They have arrived!
I was so happy I actually jumped up and down. That’s the most excitement I get nowadays.
But…oh my.
I have bought a wide selection of the things. Fitted, prefolds, organic cotton, cotton, hemp, bamboo, mixed natural fibres, wool. Which is great, I mean, variety is the spice of life right?
But with this great selection comes a variety of washing instructions. And some without instructions at all! I have spent about 3 hours figuring out the initial wash process, how many washes, temperature, drying times, lanolization and what products can be washed together.
So in the wash at the moment are my Imse Vimse all in one and my Heiny Huggers fitted diaper. They seem to be the ones that require the least number of washes.
I then have the rest divided into four separate piles, each pile needs to be washed at least 3 and up to 8 times!
AND THEN I have my wool diaper covers soaking in Eucalan wash, then they need to be lanolized.
A lot of work.
But I know it is going to be worth it. In a couple of days (and several laundry loads later) I will be cloth diapering full time. And I am sure that will bring it’s own interesting hassles.
It’s a learning curve from here…I’ll keep you all posted on the trials and tribulations of cloth diapering…and wish me luck!
